Everyone who knows me well knows that my ultimate dream is to be a travel writer, a dream I had put aside for years in favour of everything else, including a few things which rank higher in terms of urgency or importance, but not as fulfilling.

Admittedly, this is not my first attempt to blog. I have tried blogging a few times earlier, in fact, one of them still generates some hundreds of hits each month despite my lack of activity for over a year now. None of my previous blogs, however, was dedicated to the two things I am very passionate about - travel & food, so I decided to create one specifically discussing these two subjects, and nothing else.

So where did the title "Middle Class Traveller" come from? Well, to start with, I must admit I am not very creative when it comes to names (apologies to my future children!) so I decided to pick a name that describes myself and how I travel but also something others can relate to. A middle class traveller, for me, is somebody who normally travels within a certain budget and would look for bargains and cutback opportunities, but are by no means penny-pinchers. They (read: we) take care of their expenditures, but do not compromise on comfort, safety & security.

The middle class travellers also enjoy occasional splurging, even if it means eating at a fast food joint for the rest of the trip or taking an overnight bus trip instead of flying. Needless to say, they (read: we) LOVE discount coupons and seasonal offers, not necessarily as a means of cutting costs per se, but more as a way of getting better products for the same amount of money. And of course, just like everybody else, we love sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of our experiences to our friends and family.

Sounds like you? Come on in and enjoy the ride!

Bon voyage!
